Whether your mom prefers casual down-home cooking or a more formal atmosphere, we’ve got it all covered.

Nina Restaurant in Middletown is the perfect pick for a mom who is just a city sophisticate at heart. Located in an 1800s storefront downtown, Nina’s has brick walls, a burnished tin ceiling, and an intimate atmosphere. Their Mother’s Day Prix Fixe menu offers an array of contemporary American breakfast fare.

A romantic old-world resort style spot, The Would Restaurant in Highland is a relaxing spot for brunch. If it’s nice out, you can either choose to dine out on the large porch or in the cozy dining room. They offer a Prix Fixe brunch menu on Mother’s Day, complete with waffles, homemade pastries, fresh fruit, salmon, pasta, juice, and more.

Pawling’s McKinney & Doyle Bakery and Café is a not-so-secret Mother’s Day brunch choice in Dutchess County. It gets busy for brunch, but if Mom is willing to wait she won’t be disappointed. With a choice of treats ranging from French Almond Toast to Steak and Eggs to Louis’ Pancakes (filled with a sweet marscapone cream, raspberries, oranges, and powdered sugar), there’s certainly enough for her to choose from.

Torches on the Hudson in Newburgh has become somewhat of a landmark business since it opened in 2001, but one of its lesser known charms is its terrific brunch selection. The Mother’s Day buffet includes Danishes, flatbreads, cheeses, custom made omelets, and even a carving station. Enjoy a beautiful view of the river while you and Mom dig in.

The Dubliner Irish Pub may seem an unlikely place to find a good brunch, but trust us when we say that if you like Irish breakfast, the Dubliner has it all. Choose from an array of traditional Irish breakfast foods like black and white pudding, bangers, and rashers as well as the American staples that kids will enjoy, like classic buttermilk pancakes. For a cool twist on an old favorite, try the Bailey’s French Toast: egg-battered sweet bread with a Bailey’s Irish Cream glaze.

For a dramatic and scenic setting, take Mom to the Skytop Steakhouse and Brewing Company in Kingston. She’ll like the high beams and large chalet-style windows (and she won’t hate the gigantic American breakfast buffet either). Eggs Benedict, anyone?

For an extra elegant affair, try the Chalet on the Hudson in Cold Spring. The lovely views and fresh flowers will really give Mom something to smile about. So will the buffet menu – with custom waffle and omelet stations, pastries, Danishes, fresh tortellini alfredo, filet of sole, and more, there isn’t much left to be desired for a sumptuous Mother’s Day breakfast feast.

Finally, Rhinebeck’s Calico Restaurant is a surefire way to charm an eclectic Mom into having the perfect Mother’s Day. Serving “eclectic America food with a European flair,” Calico also has a patisserie specializing in French pastries. Choose from an A La Carte menu of soups, seafood, omelets, frittatas, and more.  Our favorite dish? The chive and goat cheese omelet.
